Intercultural Training
High level content for communication in international business by IWAYS
BRIDGING the GAPS™ for China, Europe, South America, USA or Africa. An unique and universal approach.
BRIDGING the GAPS™ is a series of training courses for cross cultural communication. The core content of each course is the BSSD/UAA model, that provides a simple and universal way to communicate without so-called “cultural” borders. An approach that teaches the most important skill for success with people – interpersonal alignment.
WHAT IS “interpersonal alignment”? When two parties interact, they bring with them their individual values and objectives. Interpersonal alignment is achieved when those values and objectives are balanced, so that both parties can obtain their desired outcome. Being skilled at creating interpersonal alignment increases the likelihood of a win:win result.
The first series of BRIDGING the GAPS™ focuses on business relationship between European and Chinese managers and their organisations. Series 2, available at the beginning of 2011, focuses on common issues in the European context.
The best way to learn the demanding art of cross-cultural management and leadership is by doing. That’s why IWAYS follows case study based learning models.
We engage the course attendees in cross-cultural business situations developed from real events. The business situations are embedded in a full scenario case study. IWAYS case studies immerse attendees in the challenges they are expected to face. Challenges that require careful analyses with limited or even insufficient information. Based on the case studies we introduce methods and provide tools to deal with these challenges.
IWAYS has developed a comprehensive case study that tells the story of Paul, a manager from the UK who fails in China. The case study follows him for 6 months and contains multiple scenarios of cross-cultural encounters. Paul meets his customers or suppliers, he has to manage internal conflicts in his international team as well to deal with his Chinese collegues. IWAYS presents the case study with an extraordinary film produced with professional actors at real locations in China. The movie is presented in 6 main scenarios, each will be analysed based on the BSSD/UAA model. In the end you know, why Paul failed. Is there a better way to learn how to do business in cross-cultural situations?
